Just my two cents.

I was driving through the great state of Texas the other day, where everything, they tell me, is bigger. Even the pro-lifers, apparently. I mean, if I'm to go by the multitude of bumper stickers I saw on the I-10. Jeez, man.

Now, I'm happy for you to practice whatever religion churns your butter and helps you be a better person, get through this crazy life of ours, yada yada yada. It's when you splash your beliefs on the back of your car that I get my hackles up. Especially if the information you're proclaiming isn't exactly accurate.

The bumper sticker in question had a large face of an angelic looking little blonde-haired-blue-eyed baby smack in the middle of it (why are they always white babies? I mean, they are, though) and said, "ABORTION STOPS MY BEATING HEART!"

Now. Let's be fair here.

No, it actually doesn't.

No, 6-month-old baby with a couple of brand new teeth and the ability to smile and giggle and suck from a nipple and breathe on your own...no, abortion does not stop your heart.

Now, take a photo of, say, a date-sized fetus, all veiny and pulpy and grey looking and put that on a bumper sticker, and yes, I'll agree. An abortion would, in fact, stop that heart from beating. But it's funny...I've never actually seen a fetus on a bumper sticker.

what if someone crammed an aborted, date-sized fetus into the mouth of that six year-old white baby and it choked to death?

who said anything about a six year old baby? Ew.

Good point.

I swear I saw a fetus driving a customized Honda this morning during rush hour. But he didn't have any abortion bumper stickers on his car, just some shit about "visual world peace" and another one about global warming. So I flicked a cigarette at him and passed him on the right.

Oh, Krissyface, I couldn't love you more. My first child was the result of an unplanned pregnancy at 19. I remember going to a "pregnancy support" place that showed me horrible pictures aborted fetuses that I swear were wearing Catholic school uniforms. Believe me, they had no impact on my decision to continue the pregnancy (and thank God I did), but I did get an eye-opening of the kind of nuts out there, however well-intentioned. (Though that's debatable.)

Congrats--this is a bold and honest post. I get the Chinese spam, too.

The Chinese are spamming you because you dropped me from your blogroll. I have connections in the Chinese mafia and now they are pissed at you. Watch out messing with them or I'll have them roll your yard next.

Oddly, your Chinese spam is vaguely similar to fortune cookie sentiments. Hmmm, maybe they are hoping you will tell them what's good and what isn't? Anyway, love your whatever-churns-your butter phrase. Glad you kept on driving...(through Texas).
